How else do I help children
A lot goes on when I am not seeing children face to face:
Working with parents
I want and expect parents to be fully involved and thus I use a family friendly app called seesaw to update parents regular with photos, videos and descriptions of our sessions plus ideas of how they can help at home.
Individual goals
Working with the team, I devise goals for your child which are specific, measurable, realistic and based on your areas of concern for your child. We work on them together to get the best possible outcome for your child.
These are reviewed regularly and updated as your child progresses.
Teaching sessions
We are a team. Parents, teachers and I work together to ensure that we are all working in the same direction to help your child. I love working in schools so I can feedback straight away to teachers and also find out weekly how the children are progressing. I also offer teaching sessions to schools, for teaching staff and educational assistance. This can be formally through a presentation or informally with staff joining sessions or 1:1 teaching. I also do parent talks. All of this is free of charge.
Talks to Companies
I offer companies talks on specific areas of interest for the company including what Occupational Therapy is, how it can help, how to support your child's emotional and physical development, important milestones for your children and red flags to look out for among other talks.
I also offer consultations to parents via the company to ascertain if Occupational Therapy may be of assistance and/or what they can do to support their child's development, plus recommendations of other services that may be useful eg specific audiology/optometrist assessments.
