I see children in situ at the Peak Primary School, Tung Chung Kindergarten, Kellett school, home visits and zoom sessions.  Please click on the section of interest for further information.

I go to these 3 schools during the working week spending at least 1 day at each.  Seeing the children is just part of how I use my time.  Teachers and I always want to connect before and after sessions so we can discuss how the week has been and what I suggest after therapy.
The seesaw app is a big part of my therapy.  I use that to give feedback to parents and suggestions and ideas.  Link
Parents can email me and/or use this platform to discuss their child also.
I offer parent and teacher training sessions also.
Referrals can be initiated by parents but best practice is to discuss with the learning coordinator at the school to ascertain what provisions have been put in place before specialist therapist help is recommended.  I would only contact a school with parents permission.

Peak School.

This has a special place in my heart.  My children went to this school for the whole of their primary years.  I was unsure if I should mix their schooling with my work so kept it quiet that I was an OT until one parent found out and asked me to see her child.  This soon turned into me having a caseload and 9 years later, I’ve not looked back and really enjoy working at the school with their great teachers and leadership team.
The teachers are so open minded.  Since working there, from my recommendations they have taken on:
- new lined work books.
- year 1 and 2 gross motor groups to improve core strengthening, upper body to aid with fine motor and handwriting.
- Always take on classroom accommodations so quickly and readily and it is great to see children flourish.
I was so happy to support the learning enhancement team, answering questions about their room called the zone when they wanted to re-configure it to enhance learning with sensory integration in mind.

Tung Chung Kindergarten.

Early intervention is so important and that is why I really enjoy working at this school as I see improvements happening almost weekly as children who are 3-4 years old are so adaptable and able to learn through positive modelling. I always allow more time before and after sessions at TCK as the teachers are so motivated and keen to help their children with my recommendations and we discuss what has worked well and what has been an issue that week. That further helps me tailor make my session and then we discuss also afterwards.

Kellett School.

I mainly work at the Pokfulam site for primary school children but also offer assessments to the older children in the senior school to help the support team bench mark specific issues and provide relevant exam accommodations. The learning support coordinator and teachers are so supportive to their children's needs that I quickly needed to provide services 2 days a week there. This means that I can offer individual sessions over 2 days a week if deemed suitable, and offer more options for example, going into the classroom to reinforce work we do individually out of class on a weekly basis, I often conduct informal teaching 1:1 with Educational Assistants so they can aid children in their classroom with my recommendations and the teaching staff are always welcoming my ideas.

Home Visits.

I offer this service on a limited basis due to after school time constraints but want to be able to help more children in the community who are not at the schools I currently work at. I also offered more home visits during Covid related school lockdowns. Please contact me if your child does not attend one of the 3 schools I work at to see if it would be appropriate for me to conduct home visits and if I have space. If I do not, I could always recommend other services.

Parent/child support on zoom.

Depending on the situation, I do occasionally agree to zoom sessions. This is not ideal or optimum but has worked well. The reasons have normally been due to seeing the child first face to face and they move or during covid lockdowns. A child needs enough attention to be able to focus on the zoom sessions so this is a big factor. Fine motor and handwriting is one area that I can support. The other is offering parents support with their child. I can do that with zoom calls about situations that have occured and offer advice, 'live' support with parents whilst they play with their child to increase interaction and engagement or review of videos they send to me and the zoom is to discuss what went well and what to try next. I've worked with families based in Hong Kong, China, Australia, England, Spain and France.

Parent/teacher/company talks.

I offer schools and companies talks on areas of Occupational Therapy and child development.
Recently I have conducted talks on:
- What is Occupational Therapy and how it can help your child
- Red flags to look for with regards to child development
- What help is available for parents and their children
- Post covid - what now, and how parents can help their child continue to grow.
 - Sensory discrimination 2 part talk for teachers - this is an area that is often missed with regards to child development.
- Regulation - what it is and difference between co-regulation and self-regulation.
